Enhanced version of BlackRose will be officially available from 1.1.2003. We plan to finish the testing to the end of the year 2002.

Features added or enhanced :
  • Transactions( rollback, commit etc )
  • Referential integrity
  • Imbedded SQL
  • Only subset of SQL-92 standard will be supported, it means the most important features will be supported, and others will be added according to demand. Much of SQL functionality may be implemented using native calls of BlackRose.
  • Better primary keys handling, for example multifield primary keys
  • Better sorting

BlackRose 2 was tested succesfully in the following environments (the goal was to test newest jdk1.4.1_03) :
      • Solaris 8/x86 with jdk1.4.1_02 and Netscape 4.7x/7 : client/server and thin client/www server/server
      • Aurox 9 (Polish RedHat 9) with jdk1.4.1_03 and Mozilla 1.2.1 : client/server and thin client/www server/server
      • All possible mixed configurations were tested for example : Linux client/Solaris server and vice versa.
    • Windows NT 4 (service pack 4) with jdk1.4.1_03 and IE 5 : client/server and thin client/www server/server

    Test in Solaris 9 x86

BlackRose 2 was tested succesfully in the following mixed Solaris9/WindowsNT4 environment (the goal was to test newest jdk1.4.2) :
    • Solaris 9/x86 with jdk1.4.2 and Mozilla 1.2.1 : client/server and thin client/www server/server
    • Windows NT4 with jdk1.4.1_03 with IE5 : client(standalone, thick) and thin client(IE5)

    Portability of BlackRose 2

BlackRose 2 components , it means BlackRose database server and husar II www server are portable to any IA platforms : WindowsNT4, Windows 2000, Linux RedHat 7.x, 8.x, 9.x and Solaris 8/9 x86. It is enough to copy BlackRose database server and its databases from WindowsNT4 to Solaris 9 etc and it runs out of the box .It is valid at least for jdk1.3.x and 1.4.x . It makes migration from one platform to another very easy.
